The phrase “forever young”, until now seen only in fairy tales can come true. British scientists have identified genes that control the aging process.
For now, however, the discovery could pave the way for new generation drugs that prevent many diseases, from the heart to Alzheimer’s.
Following laboratory tests, researchers found that mutations of these genes made may extend the life of certain animals such as worms and mice – and probably very effective for people.
Professor Linda Partridge, director of the Institute for the healthy aging of the University College London, said the discovery could help treat or prevent many diseases in simultaneously.
UK teacher said that blocking the causes of aging, not treat symptoms, may be the best way to prevent diseases associated advancement in age.Tags: Aging gene, extend the life, Professor Linda Partridge
